General information about SpamCop

Advertising is now available on the SpamCop.net website. Your 468x60 banner will run in a regular rotation on free users' pages. Paying members do not see banners, nor are banners shown on some peripheral pages (such as the FAQ). Banners are shown to users on the home-page and during spam processing as well as on other pages, such as the help center and statistics pages. They are also shown to anyone responding to SpamCop reports through the web site.

In all, you should expect at least 20,000 impressions per day from SpamCop. How that translates into click-throughs or purchases is of course questionable.

To buy a month of 100% coverage (only your banner(s) appear on the spamcop site) costs $1000. That's a CPM (Cost per thousand impressions) of only $1.66! ($1000 for 600K impressions). For reference, OSDN, publishers of slashdot.org charge $5.71 CPM for a similar banner. The Wall Street Journal charges anywhere from $22 to $95 CPM.

Fractional plans are available as well - you can buy as little as 1/8th of the ad traffic on SpamCop for a proportional fee ($125/month for 1/8th).

Banners must pass a content-review. In general, they should be under 50K in size and should not be too obnoxious (no flashing, misleading or obscene content). Some animation is OK, but should be tasteful and should not loop. No javascript or flash, only GIF, JPEG or PNG formats. No cookies should be given with the banner image. We reserve the right to refuse advertising to anyone for any reason. We can include an "alt-tag" text with the banner which will be visible to most users who do not load the banner (text-only browsers or ad-blocking software).
